Winter Holiday Part 7 ~ The Chair LIFT!

Will this holiday posting ever end?
The last day at the mountain saw us packing up and ignoring the sign that said "no packed lunches" and we brought our big pot of soup along! We just all hung out in the main lodge.  There was a nice room for "daycare" that wasn't being used, so the wee ones got to have fun while the older ones went on the hill.
 Love the rosey cheeks!

Gregg found a great way to "dance" the girls down the hill.  He is comfortable enough to hold hands and then just repeat "toe edge ~ heel edge" and they would just rotate down the hill.  It was great fun to watch!
 Someone is having fun!
Mei put on Ruth's jacket with the lift ticket on it so she could have a lift ticket ride ~ they didn't mind as much as she did changing jackets ~ ha!
Mei was very giggly and thought the lift was like a fair ride ~ has she ever been on a fair ride?  Then she said "I don't really want to look down" but she was.
Glad they don't take after their Momma!  I was so happy they did this!
Kate was doing great by the last day and boarding much more comfortably

 The look a likes
We all got a kick out of this little one
One chair would spin, so it was fun to take turns on it
Leaving you with some bathroom stall reading

Winter Holiday Part 6 ~ we skipped, we ran, we played Frisbee

Sorta skipped a beat.  We had more fun in Coaldale besides window shopping, eating perogies and watching movies.
We played Frisbee in the park
 We warmed up

Girls stole the camera for a little while and took some photos too

We pulled off some really coordinated moves ~ down right stylie even!

We missed a few, but only because it was REALLY windy!

Some showed off more than others

 Not me of course!
Oh wait ~ Walk like an Egyptian !

He's going love me for that one!  ha ha!
Men played "grounders" with the girls... don't touch anything blue!  Or was it yellow?

Then we rested and talked about having pie and ice cream.  I think we settled for some more yummy "Steeped Tea"!

Winter Holiday Part 5 ~ Castle Mountain Snowboarding!

Now a lot has changed since 1996 (?) when my hubby first went to Mt. Baker and learned to snowboard with his cousin.  I remember having to help him undress and he had to use his hands to lift his legs into the car!  Learning to snowboarding can be hard work ~ but our girls were up for the challenge!
All suited and strapped in
Lesson 1: Learn to roll over and get up on the board!
 See Father roll over.
See Kate roll over.  See Ruth roll over.  Good girls.
See Father on his heel edge.  See Father on his toe edge.
 See Ruth go!
 See Kate go!

Funny thing about the beginners hill ~ there were some schools there with children learning to ski.  They were down right scary.  Most couldn't stop and just went flying... some ran into others.  We prayed a lot for safety!
 See Uncle resting.

 See Kate fall down kaboom!
Don't worry, she's not hurt.  She is just looking at the clouds and waiting for her turn with Dad.

She had the best faces and OH SO GIGGLY!

They are getting better and better.  Learning to carve on their heel edge to their toe edge is difficult, but the safest way to go.
More about the chair lift in the next post, as this one is getting a long winded!

Oh, and for the THRIFT part.  Gregg had a pass , but if you are not using the Chair Lift, you don't need to pay.  We just kept walking up the side and then snowboarding down.  We bought Ruth a SnowPass for grade 4-5 students and she could have gone 3 times to Castle Mtn. for Free.  So we used her pass once for the chair lift.  To buy a lift ticket for the smallest chair lift was only $12.  So we spent $12 for 3 days of snowboarding for our girls.  Not too shabby!
