Easter Celebrations 2013 Part 1

Easter celebrations to our family are not just about bunnies and eggs.   We have always celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, knowing what He did for us. We have always enjoyed a little egg hunt with the children.  This year we ended up having 3 different ones with 3 sides of our families.

The first one was held in our yard, with some nieces and nephews and our good friend's 2 little girls.

It was a little chilly, but it was still fun climbing over the mounds of snow....
 going through tunnels
and then we unleashed the children to look for their names or "letters" on their treats
Found some sugar sprinkles and decorations!
Stickers, silly putty and finger flashy things
We had to dig paths throughout the backyard to even make this possible.
 Found a tiny bunny
The girls said I had to include this silly photo.  He was being adorable and would close his eyes while he bobbed the balloons up and down.
The children are getting old enough to play games like UNO together
Others like the shelves of books
and still others like playing with the games
Making new friends while warming up with hot chocolate (super sweet hot chocolate I might add)
These little girls were so good with Cocoa, they would play with his chewy toys and giggle when he'd run after it.
Kate also found out that you get little cuddlers when you have technology going.

I didn't get any good photos of the older kids AKA Gregg's siblings with their Million bunny bucks they found in the trees.  Hope it was tasty as I'm sure the cheque would have bounced at the bank!

Mennonite Girls Can Cook Celebrations Cook Book

They've done it again!  Another great cookbook... I have their first cookbook and while you don't have to be Mennonite to enjoy these recipes, they bring back such fond memories.
I especially like the Gluten Free options and the healthier versions to all those rich creamy dishes that we grew up on.

Click through the link above and if you complete a transaction while still linked through me, I receive a small commission.  This commission goes to local adoptive families.

Thanks!

Birthday fun

I realized I'm not taking the camera out very much lately ~ so here is a little bit of our Miss Ruth's 12th birthday celebration.

The girls have found a neat little website/videos where a Mom teaches a bunch of cool and easy hair do's.  Thus, the Aunt Jemima head covering.
Nothing like some sugar junk cereal for breakfast.  Guess it off sets the gluten free lemon poppy seed muffins.

I think Mei is doing some tricky boxing maneuvers on the Wii.
Then she was off to Nana & Papa's for the week.  Very blessed little girl....
...she left us here to shovel the snow...

Cocoon Curls make your hair curly

How to make your hair curly without a curling iron?

Girls did this little trick called Cocoon Curls in Ruth's hair and this is the result

They were only in for a few hours, so you could do them longer.

March Snow Days

Public schools were shut down for 2 days as we all got snowed in... oh so fun!  I told the girls to take a day off as well and we did home ec instead.  We're trying to make some things to sell at the local Farmer's Market this summer.  Girls have a sponsor child they were paying for with their chicken egg money, now they need another income source...Then the shoveling began, and the fun ensued!

This cedar by the house has branches falling down because the snow is so heavy.
Can you see Cocoa waiting patiently for the girls to dig more paths for him?
I went to coffee group and this is what my girls did with the neighbor's help
Mei was a little unsure and finally said "Push Me!"
 Then she was hooked!
There goes Ruth!

Look how deep the snow is where we didn't even shovel!

The afternoon was spent with camera in hand, watching these cousins play and dig and fly like birds.  We ended it all with hot chocolate and marshmallows.  A fun treat for all.  Poor Daddy was still on the road home, so we may have to repeat some of the fun again.

Skating Fun

Our local community has an arena and there is a free public skate Sunday afternoons.  We headed on over and tried on some skates... by the 2nd time out the girls were greatly improved!

Now if I could just learn the fine art of tying skates, we'd be all set and ready to go!
